If you have ever visited the 'Lunch Bowl' at the library on a Tuesday, then there is a good chance you have had the opportunity to taste one of the grilled cheese sandwiches made by our resident grill expert Patrick. It is thanks to volunteers like Maureen and Patrick that the library can offer such a wonderful program.

Name: Patrick Houle
What do you do at the library?
Work with the Lunch Bowl crew
Solve computer problems, provide tech support
Whatever Big Boss Kathy tells me to do
Member of the Library Board
Why do you volunteer at the library?
I had the time and wanted to help. I am a huge supporter of the library and believe it's a vital part of Marmora & Lake's social system.

What are 3 of your favourite books?
Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
The Mathematical Tourist by Ivars Peterson
The Name Of The Rose by Umberto Eco
I love books that teach me something, even a fiction novel can introduce real-world ideas and concepts.

What fictional character are you most like?
Probably a combination of Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park, Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes and Johnny Bravo. Ask anyone who knows me - despite what my birth certificate says, "mischief" is my middle name.

It’s always inspiring to see the people behind the scenes who make such a meaningful impact. Volunteer stories like this really highlight the dedication, passion, and community spirit that often go unnoticed. Getting to know individuals on a personal level adds depth and makes the entire initiative feel more relatable and genuine.
I recently came across some great community-focused content on https://theirishinsider.ie/ that shares similar engaging insights and stories. It’s encouraging to see platforms that continue to highlight real voices and positive contributions.
