Library History

On May 13, 1920, a group of citizens met to discuss the establishment of a public library. This meeting resulted in the formation of a library board of nine members with a yearly membership fee of fifty cents.
The library opened on December 11, 1920 with the hours: Tuesday 2 - 6pm and Saturday 2 - 6pm and 7 - 9pm. From this opening of the Marmora Public Library, the ladies of the Marmora Women's Institute were largely responsible for the successful continuance of the facility by conducting membership drives, in the early years, donating furniture, memorial books, and regular financial donations.

Great Libraries Have Great Friends!

The Friends assist the library in many areas including funding, publicity and programming.
Become a Friend
It’s easy to become a Friend of the Library. All you have to do is give us your name and contact information and tell us what area you would like to volunteer in. If you are too busy to volunteer, you can still be a Friend by doing this:
• Support our book sales
• Encourage the events we sponsor
• Visit your library
• Donate your gently used books to the Friends of the Library
