If you have visited the library on a Tuesday or Friday afternoon then there is a good chance you have had the pleasure of meeting Anne - the library volunteer extraordinaire!

What do you do at the library?
Everything & anything I am asked to do. I wrap, label, catalogue, I shelve and tidy, I check books in & out for patrons. I weed books, I work on keeping the book sale organized. I even sort seeds though I don't love it! I work with patrons on genealogy at Heritage Hunters. I serve on the library board of directors.
Why do you volunteer at the library?
To keep my sanity. To be useful, to make a difference. To participate in community and make connections.

What are 3 of your favourite books?
All The Light We Can Not See by Anthony Doerr
The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah
The Girls - Lori Lansens

What fictional character are you most like?
I want to be a cross between Kinsey Millhone, the intrepid, tough wise-cracking private eye in the Sue Grafton novels. I too have the ever-useful "little black dress" that she hauls out whenever needed, it never shows its creases much like the character! ...
And the other part of me is the Grandmother in Miriam Toews' 'Fight Night'. She has a close relationship with her preteen granddaughter - as do I - and she is funny, witty, and very feisty.
My colleagues and friends at the library tell me I am like Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, in Downton Abbey. To be even remotely compared to a character played by the distinguished Maggie Smith, is beyond flattering! How will I ever live up to that?!!!
